Women's Bowling captures 2nd-place at season-opening event

Muskingum women's bowling opened the season Saturday at HP Lanes in Columbus, competing in the DO Apparel-Brunswick Collegiate Open. The Muskies battled through three individual team games and 12 qualifying Baker games, finishing third in qualifying to secure the No. 3 seed in bracket play.
In the elimination rounds, Muskingum swept its quarterfinal and semifinal matchups before falling to Northwestern Ohio in the championship match, earning a runner-up finish.
The varsity squad posted 2,576 pins in the individual portion, led by sophomore Faith Smith, who rolled 572 pins to earn All-Tournament Team honors. Senior Elizabeth Springsteen added 555 pins to place seventh overall, while senior Lillian Matteson contributed 504 pins for a top-15 finish. Junior Tayler Clark opened her season with a top-25 showing at 481 pins, and sophomore Bridget Cake rounded out the group with 464 pins.
